THE PHOTOJOURNALISM ABOUT UNLUCKY FATES OF LANGURS

Within 10 years working in the field of primate conservation, I witnessed 10 unfortunate fates of langurs – the species are in conservation priorities at the level of Endangered (EN) and Critically Endangered (CR) according to Vietnam Red Book 2007

Among 26 species and subspecies of primate in Vietnam, there are more than 12 species of langur that accounts for 48%. All these langur species are in conservation priorities at the level of Endangered (EN) and Critically Endangered (CR) according to Vietnam Red Book 2007, the IUCN in 2015 and in Group IB Decree 32/2006 / ND-CP. Because of the high risk of extinction, these species’ conservation has been paid special attention by authorities, social organizations, and local communities. However, within 10 years working in the field of primate conservation in Central and Central Highlands, I myself witnessed many langur individuals that belong to the douc genus were abused despite the availability of legal systems which means to protect them. This photojournalism shows 10 unfortunate fates of douc which have gone through my life since 2006.
