HIGH-LEVEL EUROPEAN UNION DELEGATE EXPERIENCED THE BEAUTY OF THE RED-SHANKED DOUC LANGUR IN SON TRA PENINSULA

On March 26, as part of an official mission and working visit with the Da Nang People’s Committee, a high-level European Delegation led by H.E. Julien Guerrier – EU Ambassador to Vietnam – visited Son Tra Peninsula and directly observed the Red-shanked Douc Langur, one of the most endangered and rare primates in Vietnam, which are in urgent need of conservation. Seeing the langurs in their natural habitat provided a special experience and left a deep impression on the delegation.

Through the visit, the delegation gained further understanding of the city’s goal to position Da Nang as an international city, illustrated by the image of a “green, smart, and livable city,” as well as efforts in biodiversity conservation, particularly the results achieved from the project, namely “Establishing a funding foundation for biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability in Da Nang City, Vietnam”, funded by the EU during 2020–2023 and implemented by GreenViet Center and GSI.

This was also an opportunity for GreenViet Center to express its sincere thanks to H.E. Julien Guerrier, Mr. Peteris Ustubs – Director for the Middle East and Asia-Pacific at DG INTPA, H.E. Kees van Baar – Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, and colleagues. GreenViet Center also expressed its wish to welcome the delegation in the future to visit activities of the project, namely “Enabling women in Central of Vietnam to improve their lives and protect the environment, and natural resources by applying green and circular economy”, funded by the EU and implemented during 2025–2028 by GreenViet Center, Visible Impact and CSRD.

On behalf of the delegation, H.E. Julien Guerrier expressed thanks to the Da Nang People’s Committee, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang, and GreenViet Center for the impressive visit to Son Tra Peninsula.
